Privacy Policy

Introduction

Zip VPN (the “App”) is a free VPN app for Android, published by Qikks Studio (“we”, “us”, or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, how it is used, and the choices you have. You do not need to create an account, provide an email address, or sign in to use the App.

No Account, No Profile

The App has no sign-up, no login and no user profile. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or payment details, and we do not have a record that identifies you as an individual user of the App.

The VPN Connection

When you connect, your device’s internet traffic is routed through a tunnel to a VPN server in the location you chose.

  • We do not log your activity. The App does not record the websites you visit, the apps you use, the content you transfer, or your name resolution queries.
  • Connection statistics — the session timer, and the download and upload figures shown on the home screen — are calculated and displayed on your device. They are not sent to us.
  • Connection logs are off by default. If you turn on Show Connection Logs in Settings, diagnostic output is written to your device’s cache so you can read it. It stays on the device.
  • Kill Switch, IPv6 Leak Protection and Split Tunneling preferences are stored on your device and applied locally when a tunnel is established.

Where the Servers Come From

Zip VPN does not run its own exit servers. The App fetches a list of available, validated public VPN servers from our server directory, which draws primarily on the free volunteer-operated VPN Gate network. This is important to understand:

  • The server you connect to is operated by a third party, not by us. Its operator may keep its own records, under its own policies and the law of its own country.
  • We have no control over, and cannot make commitments on behalf of, those operators.
  • Because of this, the App should not be relied on for high-risk activity where the conduct of an unknown server operator would matter to you.

Requests the App makes to our server directory are ordinary internet requests: our servers necessarily see the requesting IP address and the parameters of the request, such as the country you are browsing for and whether your device is on mobile data. We use this only to return an appropriate server list and to keep the service running.

Data Stored On Your Device

The following is created and kept locally on your device, and is not transmitted to us. Clearing the App’s storage or uninstalling it removes all of it:

  • Your selected server and the last country you connected to
  • Your favourite countries and your Recently Connected list
  • All of your in-app settings, including language and notification choices
  • The apps you have excluded from the tunnel under Split Tunneling
  • The state of a running session, so the App can pick the timer back up if you leave it and return
  • Connection log output, if you have turned that setting on

Analytics and Crash Reporting

The App uses Google Firebase Analytics to record anonymous usage events — for example, that a connection was attempted and whether it succeeded — and to report crashes. This helps us find the countries and situations where connections fail. It does not include the sites you visit or the content of your traffic.

You can turn this off at any time: Settings → Privacy → Analytics & Crash Reports.

Advertising

The App is free and is supported by advertising. Ads are served by Google AdMob, with Meta Audience Network as a mediation partner. These services may process device and usage identifiers in order to select and measure ads, in accordance with their own privacy policies.

Where the law requires it, the App presents a consent form from the Google User Messaging Platform before personalised ads are shown. You can review or change that choice at any time: Settings → Privacy → Privacy options.

Permissions the App Asks For

  • VPN service — granted by you through Android’s own consent dialog. Without it no tunnel can be created.
  • Internet and network state — to connect, and to tell whether you are on Wi-Fi or mobile data so the App can request servers that will work on that network.
  • Foreground service — so the tunnel keeps running while the App is in the background, as Android requires.
  • Notifications — to show connection status. Every one of these notifications can be switched off in Settings.
  • The list of installed apps — read on the device only, so Split Tunneling can show you which apps to exclude. The list is not sent anywhere.

Children

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will remove it.

Your Choices

  • Turn analytics and crash reporting off in Settings
  • Review or withdraw ad-personalisation consent in Settings
  • Clear everything the App has stored by clearing its storage in Android’s settings, or by uninstalling it
  • Use Android’s own advertising ID controls to reset or limit that identifier

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the App changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be reflected in the App’s store listing.
