Questions
Answered before you have to ask.
Including the ones with answers that cost us work. Those are the only ones worth publishing.

01
Working with us
The practical shape of it.
What actually happens on a first call?
30 minutes on video. You bring one question you cannot currently answer. We tell you whether it is measurable, roughly what it would take, and whether we are the right people for it. Afterwards you get that in writing so you can hold it against anyone else's quote. There is no deck and nobody will ring you before the time you picked.
How big are you?
Small, and deliberately. You will work with the people doing the work rather than with an account manager relaying messages to them. The trade is that we take on fewer clients at once and occasionally tell you we cannot start for a few weeks.
Who owns the accounts and the work?
You do, all of it. We work inside your Google Ads, Meta, Analytics and Play accounts as managers, and anything we build is built in your accounts on your data. If we stop working together you change one permission and everything stays where it is.
Can you work alongside our current agency?
Often, and it can work well: we make the results measurable and they run campaigns against numbers everybody trusts. It only works if both sides want it. We will tell you early if it looks like it will turn into a fight, because that fight is expensive for you and not for either of us.
What would make you turn work down?
Three things, and they are the same three every time. If the arithmetic cannot work at your margin. If nobody on your side can approve a change within a week, because the work stalls and you pay for the stall. And if the number needs to look good more than it needs to be right, because ours usually looks worse first.
02
Measurement
The part everything else rests on.
We already have analytics. Why would we need you?
Usually because the tag is fine and the plan behind it never existed. The data is real and nobody can say what any of it means, so nobody opens it. That is a smaller job than a rebuild and we will tell you if it is the one you have.
Will our numbers go down?
Yes, in the first honest month, and that is the point. It stops counting the same sale twice. The money coming in does not change. What changes is that the figure you plan with now matches the bank.
How long before any of this is useful?
Four weeks to the first honest read. The install is quicker than that, but a week of data is not a trend, and a number read too early gets acted on and then apologised for.
Is this going to slow our site down?
A tag container adds weight, so we keep it small and load it late. If what you already have is slowing the site down we will say so, because a slow page loses more customers than a good report wins back.
03
Advertising
Money going out, and what comes back.
Do you charge a percentage of ad spend?
No. Being paid more when you spend more is the wrong incentive for the people whose job includes telling you when to spend less. Scope and fee are agreed up front and do not move with the budget in either direction.
What is the minimum we should be spending?
About two thousand a month for ongoing work. Below that our fee is a bigger problem than your advertising is. The honest answer at that level is usually one piece of work to get the tracking right, after which you run it yourself.
How quickly will the advertising improve?
Four weeks to an honest answer and a quarter before the bidding has enough clean conversions to be doing real work. Anybody promising a transformation in three weeks is describing a spend increase.
Would you ever tell us to stop advertising?
Yes, and we have. If the cost of buying a customer cannot come under what a customer is worth, more budget makes the problem larger rather than smaller. That is a finding, and it is worth the fee on its own.
04
Building things
Sites, apps and the software in between.
Do we need a custom build or would a platform do?
Very often a platform would do, and we will say so even though it is the smaller job. Custom earns its place when the site is doing something particular, is under real performance pressure, or is a product rather than a brochure.
Do you build for iPhone?
For measurement and advertising, yes. For building the app itself, Android is what we publish and maintain ourselves, so that is where our judgement is worth paying for. We will tell you plainly when a project needs an iOS team rather than learn on your budget.
What happens after launch?
You own the code and the deployment is documented. We offer a support arrangement and plenty of clients take it and run it themselves. Both are fine, and the handover is written either way.
Can you take over something somebody else built?
Often. The first thing we do is read it and tell you honestly whether it is worth keeping. Sometimes the answer is no, and hearing that before another year of patches is the useful part.
05
Data and privacy
What we collect, and what we refuse to.
What do you do with our customers' data?
As little as the work allows. We do not buy data, we do not enrich it, and we do not sell it. What we set up records what people do on your site, not who they are, and it lives in your accounts rather than ours.
You send hashed emails to Google and Meta. Why?
It is the minimum those platforms accept to match a conversion they charged you for. It is hashed on the server before it leaves, it goes to those two and nowhere else, and the alternative is undercounting, which teaches their bidding the wrong lesson and costs you money quietly. It is a real decision and we would rather you made it deliberately.
Do you handle UK and EU consent properly?
Yes. Consent Mode v2 with storage denied by default across the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and a consent banner where one is needed. We would rather model a visitor than count one unlawfully.
What happens to our data if we stop working with you?
Nothing moves, because it was never ours. It sits in your accounts. We lose access when you remove it, and we keep nothing.
Not here?
Then it is probably specific to your business, which is the better kind of question. Ask it on a call, or write it down and we will answer by email.
